2025 Race Outlook
This season’s focus will be on preparing for the Sprint Triathlon and Swimming Events at the 2025 National Senior Games in Des Moines, IA July 24 – August 4. The National Senior Games is a world-class biennial competition that celebrates the athletic accomplishments of older adults and inspires people of all ages to be active Athletes must qualify at a State Senior Games in the year before the National Senior Games to participate in most events. It brings together over 11,000 participants ages 50-100+ to compete in more than 25 sports.
Additionally, USA Triathlon’s has relocated the Sprint National Championships to Milwaukee, WI for the next two years. I will again make this race a priority along with the National Senior Games with just a week separating the two. USA Triathlon hosts national championship events each year giving the nation’s fastest amateurs from across the country the opportunity to race for national titles in their respective age groups, and for the opportunity to represent age group Team USA at the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships.
This season will begin in May with the TRI Clear Lake Triathlon, Clear Lake, IA. This triathlon is also the Iowa state championship race for 2025.
The two other races I plan on doing is the Lake Nona Sprint Triathlon, Orlando, FL Great Aug 24 and the Great Floridian Sprint Triathlon, Clermont, FL, Oct 19. This event was rescheduled from 2024 due to Hurricane Milton.
This season, I will focus on Open Water Swimming in addition to running improvement. I will continue to incorporate track running into my training as well participating in a few USATF MN Indoor Track Meets and local 5K Park Runs and other road races events. These will depend on location and timing.
